Chapter Twelve

Janice watched a rabbit by the brook. It sniffed the air, rising on two legs. It scurried about. Into the brush and bounding out of it. She watched it.

She watched it race to the brook and take some water in its mouth, whiskers twitching as drops from the clear stream scattered from its muzzle. Its fur was gray and short.

Her butt was sore, but she remained seated on the large rock. She watched the rabbit.

A spear soared through the air and sunk into the earth a dozen feet away from the small animal. It scampered off into the brush. Alistair scampered after the spear to retrieve it.
